National Society of Newspaper Columnists’ 2021 Contest

I was thrilled to learn last week that I won 2nd place for Editorial Cartoon in the National Society of Newspaper Columnists’ 2021 Contest (and honored to be in esteemed company with Jen Sorenson of The Nib, who won 1st place).

The cartoon I won it for was this one for The Boston Globe from election week, 2020, considering the era of Trump.

MORE THAN two years ago, inspired by my Boston subway-adoring son, I started work on a children’s board book about the joys of riding the T. In the following months, as a spate of high-profile transit mishaps ensued, some began jokingly suggesting that my project in progress should in fact be a humor book–or a horror story.
